new ceramic work

This summer I've started on something new. I've been working in clay, trying to bring my doodles into the 3rd dimension. There are some snapshots of the pieces I'm working on. The photos are a bit blurry, so forgive me. They haven't been fired yet, so are just raw clay. The biggest one is about 14 inches high or so. I call them my little beastie babies.

Parts...

Feet are fun to draw, especially when the model is boring.

MOCCA

The Heritage School Manga Club published their first comic anthology. Six very committed students wrote and drew their own manga/comic stories. We were then very graciously offered a grant to publish from the Student Press Initiative.

We decided to celebrate by presenting our book at the MOCCA independent comic fair at the Puck Building in NYC. Our students were very proud, signing autographs, shaking hands etc. It was a fun weekend. However, there were some very desperate artists there...

Here's the view from our table.

SKETCHBOOK 2008

Ok, ok so it's been awhile since I've updated this. However, I am happy to say it's not for a lack of drawing. Just a lack of scanning. This past winter/spring semester was a bit rocky professionally, but very fruitful artistically. I started this sketchbook in Feb 2008, and will probably finish it this month, in July. That's pretty good for me. I'll have pictures of the new paintings and sculptures soon...

Above are some highlights of the Feb-July 2008 sketchbook...
